Literally. Ali Al-Itbi's Chevy Up- lander was damaged dur- ing a drive-by shooting in front of 607 The East Mallfront of 607 The East Mallf in Etobicoke in January. The minivan had three bullet holes and a shat- tered back window. Al-Itbi relied on the vehicle to take his 11-year-old daugh- ter, Qamar, to her frequent medical appointments at SickKids hospital. Qamar, who is wheelchair bound and needs round-the-clock care, suffers from Batten disease, an inherited ge- netic disorder that is fatal. After learning that Al- Itbi's insurance wouldn't cover the vehicle repair, neighbourhood officer Const. Anthony Alexander reached out to his high school friend Brian Ram- rattan, who owns a colli- sion repair shop in Oak- ville. Ramrattan sent a tow truck to retrieve the vehi- cle and repaired the dam- age free of charge. "We replaced the whole backdoor," he said, adding "it feels good" to be able to help.
