Forever and always, Your Momma xoxo HIGGINS, Edna Agnes (nee Sylvester) Beloved wife of the late James (Jim) John Higgins, passed away peacefully surrounded by all her children and their spouses at Trafalgar Lodge in Oakville, Ontario, on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the age of 103 years. Dear mother of Michael (Joanne Carrelli), Eileen (Peter Content), Donald (Linda Griffiths), Maureen (Larry O'Connor), and James (Tamara Rudnicki). Edna leaves an amazing legacy of 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild. Edna was born March 7, 1916 and raised in Montreal, Quebec. She was the eighth and the last surviving of nine children of Mary Anne (Reidy) and Joseph Sylvester. Edna reached centenary status by walking, swimming, playing tennis, and most important, genetics. Parents and two brothers lived to 90's and one sister to 100. Edna was a sixth generation descendant of Nicolas Silvestre, a soldier with the Carignan- Salieres regiment that was sent in 1660 to protect New France. HEFFERNAN, Terrence James Hubert Paul Was born in Guelph, Ontario on February 8, 1935 and passed away peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Thursday, June 20, 2019. He will now be reunited with his brother Dennis and 'Uncle Joe', as well as his beloved faithful dog Rocky. Known for his gregarious sense of humor, he will be much missed by his wife Catherine, and his children Michael (Tiffany), Maureen, Paul (d.1971) and Dennis (Kittyrose), as well as his grandchildren Nash Hudson and Kathryanna. Terry and Cathy first moved to Oakville in 1966, and Terry was well known throughout St. Dominic's Parish and Oakville for his work at the church as well as the Oakville Minor Hockey Association as a coach and convener. Terry had a versatile skill set that brought him from the racetrack to the car business to the exhibit industry and so many other stops in between. He enjoyed his last job as a crossing guard most - all the kids and dogs in the neighbourhood knew and loved Terry; and he in turn loved all of them. His kindness, wisdom and his sincere interest in people led him to find a friend in almost everyone he met. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Benjamin, nurse Chris Monaghan and the whole Acclaim Health team, as well as to the staff at the Oakville Hospital for their kindness and compassion. HENNELLY, Thomas Anthony (Tony) Passed away peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 in his 91st year. Predeceased by his dearly beloved wife Nora and siblings Ann (Mike) and Jim. Anthony will be sadly missed by his sister Una (the late Bernie), sister- in-law Joyce, brother-in-law Eugene, nieces and nephews, great and great- great nieces and nephews, his special godchild Andrea, many close friends and neighbours and by his fellow members of the Halton Regional Police Chorus. Anthony dedicated himself to Catholic education, serving as Superintendent of the Halton Separate School Board for over 20 years, as a Separate School Inspector in the Hamilton and Oakville divisions and as a teacher and Principal of St. Lawrence in Scarborough. Anthony will also be remembered for his unfailing sense of humour, for his love of learning, teaching, music, magic and sport and as a faithful parishioner of St. Andrew's Catholic Church. POEL, Johanna Maria Vander June 23, 1923 - June 19, 2019 Acknowledging that she had lived a full life, with good health, strong faith, much happiness, challenges that were met with strength and courage and a generous dose of humour, the family of Johanna Maria Vander Poel announce her peaceful passing on June 19, 2019, at the age of 95, just 4 days shy of her 96th birthday. Johanna was born in Leiderdorp, Holland and was the only surviving sibling of a family of 9 brothers and sisters. She immigrated to Canada in 1959. Predeceased by her husband Cornelius Vander Poel (2006). Survived by her daughters Catherine of Calgary, Laurine (Pierre Moreau) of Penetanguishene and Theresa (Jim McArthur) of Victoria Harbour. Forever in her heart is the love of her grandchildren; Andrew (Sharelle), Andre (Shannon), Alex (Emily), and Ellen (Justin). She is also survived by sister-in-laws Winy VanderPoel, Coby Streng and brother-in-law Harry DeGroot all of Holland as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and those who considered her part of their family.
