He was invited by the R.A.F. to be t r a i n e d a s a r a d a r o p e r a t o r, b u t , t h e K o re a n w a r re q u i re d fo re i gn service men to be British. John left the R.A.F. and joined the Dutch army to fight the Japanese who had invaded the Dutch East Indies where he utilized his skills until 1950. His heart was drawn to Canada in 1952. In 1956 Coby joined him to start a great family. John will be remembered as a kind, gentle Christian man. He loved history, chess and art and was, h imsel f, an ar t is t . He was looked to as a source of wisdom by his grandchi ldren. He wi l l be missed great ly and remembered fondly.
