Halton Regional Police would like to identify a man who at- tempted to shoplift a large quantity of baby formula from the Real Canadian Superstore in Georgetown on March 3. At approximately 7:15 p.m., the suspect was observed by a loss prevention officer carrying 12 cases of formula in a bag and walking towards the exit with- out paying for the items. When stopped by the loss prevention officer and told he was under ar- rest, the man put down the baby formula and was able to escape the prem- ises. He left in a white four- door sedan being driven by a black female with a pony tail, headed east on Guelph St. The suspect is described as white, in his 40s with bald- ing salt & pepper-coloured hair, standing about 5-foot- 9 and 170 pounds wear- ing beige khaki pants and a brownish-green zip-up hooded sweater. Anyone with information is asked to call 905-878-5511 ext. 2410. NEWS STOVE FIRE On March 2, at 11:45 p.m., Halton Hills Fire Department responded to an alarm activation on Pennington Crescent after a neighbour had noticed the alarms ringing and called 911. Ambulance was on scene attending to the homeowner upon HHFD arrival. Upon entry staff noticed smoke and found a fire on the stove, which had started to extend up the wall, had been extinguished. Staff checked to ensure no extension of the fire and vented smoke out of the home. The resident was tak- en to hospital by ambulance for observation. ACTON COLLISION Firefighters responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Main St N. and Guelph St in Acton on March 3. Hal- ton Regional Police were on scene controlling traffic. Crews attended to a patient with head and spinal injuries, no extrication required. Staff assessed the driver of the dump truck, complaining of chest pain. Ambulance ar- rived on scene and transported both patients to the hospital. Crews stabilized both vehicles and turned the scene over to Halton Regional Police.
