The timeless tradition of Italian paint- ing means that McAllister's rich baskets of fruit and Chianti bottles would not look out of place in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.  McAllister accepts commissions for fine drawings and portraits in pastel and pencil.  Her subjects have included ce- lebrities and politicians, and yet it is her portraits of children that embody a wist- ful softness that holds the viewer's gaze while simultaneously demonstrating the artist's remarkable skill and versatility.  McAllister's work is treasured in col- lections in Ireland, England, Italy, France, Greece, Canada and the United States.  Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre, 515 Main St., Glen Williams, is open from Wednesday to Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. For information visit www.williams- mill.com or call 905-873-8203.
