Rick Chambers, Past President, made a presentation, to the members in atten- dance, of the costs of operating our Centre. We are responsible to pay to the Town 25 per cent of operating costs. Membership fees do not cover this cost. In fact, there is a large discrepancy that we must make up in other ways if we plan to balance the books. If you have an interest, these figures are available at the Centre. Three years ago the membership passed the acceptance of a Constitution, a very le- gal document, a set of rules and regulations under which the Board and Membership operates. If you have not read them I sug- gest you get out your copy or borrow one from the Centre. It will help to clarify a few of the "why's" of operations at the Centre. Spring session of all Active Living pro- grams has now begun and will run into late June. Great way to get into condition for that gardening and yard work coming up. In a couple of weeks, Monday, May 11, we have our annual spring fashion show coming up. Once more Alia/Tan Jay will be dressing our models in their latest fashions. Tickets are $6 for a great afternoon of fash- ion, draw prizes, and refreshments. This event is open to anyone from the public. Tickets are on sale from Reception. There will be no ticket sales the day of the show so get your ticket early. Tickets available at Reception and Alia/Tan Jay store. The Volunteer Appreciation afternoon in Acton, to celebrate volunteers from both Centres, was a great success. What would we do without them? Congratulation Heather for a great afternoon. There are still seats available for the trip to African Lion Safari. Come and join us! Georgetown's Happy Hatters marked their 10th anniversary with a celebratory lunch at the Main St. Inn last week and also wished a happy 85th birthday to the group's founder, Norma Maynard. Known as the 'Queen Mother' of the Happy Hatters, Maynard said there are currently 17 members in the club and new entrants are welcome. Maynard (right) was presented with a couple of acrylic tile paintings by club member Audrey Brown.
