NEWS With a little help from the Town's Community Improvement Plan (CIP) a local orthodontist has built a brand new office building on property where the former KFC on Guelph St. used to be.  The new building at 116A Guelph St. will be the home of Dr. Iain Meldrum's practice. "The funding from the CIP supported a project that signifi- cantly improves the area of the Guelph St. corridor, replacing and improving a building that had been vacant and neglected for three years," said Mayor Rick Bonnette.  The CIP establishes a formal partnership between the Town and local businesses to improve their facilities. The Town bud- geted $75,000 per year in fund- ing for the program.  A $10,000 cheque was handed over to Mel- drum Orthodontics. The program targets three specific areas of Halton Hills - downtown Acton and George- town and the Guelph St. corridor. Funds are provided for exterior façade improvements and con- version of underutilized space to either retail or residential uses. Grants range from $10,000 to $12,500 based on the extent of the project.  "We have made a signifi- cant investment in the commu- nity and are appreciative of the Town's support in the revitaliza- tion of the Guelph St. property. The new office creates a wonder- ful environment for our patients and staff," said Meldrum.  For more information about the CIP call 905-873-2601 x2343 or send an email to edo@halton- hills.ca  Town helps business rebuild office building Mayor Rick Bonnette (left) hands over a cheque for $10,000 to Dr. Iain Meldrum.
