The statue was sculpted by Radoslaw Kudlinski and Anna Passakas of Blue Republic and cast in bronze by George- town family-owned foundry, Artcast Inc. 'Terry' spend about four months and countless man hours at Artcast before being installed in the Richmond Hill park. He came to Artcast from the artists as a rubber mold. Skilled technicians rebuilt the sculpture in wax before con- tinuing through the rest of the lost-wax process. Once cast in bronze, the pieces of the sculp- ture were welded back togeth- er, re-textured and a patina was applied. The sculpture was well received with Terry's brother Fred and sister Judith able to attend the unveiling. Fred Fox said the family is very protective of Terry's image and that Kudlin- ski and Passakas had done an excellent job. He noted that you can see Terry's strength and determination through the strong detail in the legs and you can truly get a feel for Terry's humility by the way the artists sculpted his face. Artcast was honoured to be able to the witness the un- veiling and to be a part of this project. Artcast as been casting sculpture for the fine art in- dustry for more than 50 years in Georgetown. The company is a family business, started by Erich Knoespel and is cur- rently run by his son Marcus Knoespel. Some of the work Artcast has been involved in include the 1812 monument on Par- liament Hill, John Diefenbaker on Parliament Hill, Juno Beach Memorial on Juno Beach, Tom Longboat for the Pan-Am Games and Billy Bishop and William Barker for the Toronto City airport tunnel.
