It is easy to talk about taxes but talking about death is much more diffi- cult. One reality of death is that a funeral ser- vice does not bring closure. It is not the end. It is just the beginning of an often long, chal- lenging journey through grief. That's why Jones Funeral Home and Norval United Church have partnered in recent years to of- fer a variety of Grief Support Groups. "Walking Through Grief" is a nin- week program where participants watch a DVD, share in discussion, and find support from others who are grieving. The next "Walking Through Grief" group starts Tuesday, Oct. 20. An Open Grief Support Group is of- fered the second and fourth Monday of the month. People attend whenever they wish. This group provides a safe, comforting envi- ronment for support on an ongoing basis. A Parent's Grief Support Group is offered on the first Wednesday of every month. This group is for those dealing with the death of a child. It could be a young child or an old child, a recent loss or a loss from years ago. The grief of a parent is unique. Coming to- gether with those who know what you are going through can be so healing. All of these Grief Groups are offered at Norval United Church, 486 Guelph St. A special "Child Loss Family Night" has been planned for Wednesday, Oct. 21, 7-9 p.m. in "The Studio" at the Georgetown Li- brary, 9 Church St. Especially for parents and siblings who have suffered the death of a child in the family, this evening of hope will feature guest speakers and a special time of remembrance.
