Mayor Rob Burton, councillors and staff crowded around under the newly re- painted portico to joyfully cut the ribbon, officially reopening the hotel. After purchasing the hotel in 2016, own- er Baskaran Navaratnam rebranded it from a Country Inn and Suites, which it had been since 1998. The renovations that began in fall 2017 saw each guest room stripped down to bare walls. New carpets, paint, furniture and fixtures now adorn all 71 rooms. All single- room beds were upgraded from queen to king size. Bathrooms were updated with contem- porary vinyl flooring, replacing the dated tiles. An additional option for guests was added with the conversion of 13 rooms into kitchenette suites. All the common areas - including the lobby, three meeting rooms, and breakfast area - were also given a fresh new look. "Regular corporate clients have really enjoyed and appreciated the new look," said general manager Bravin Baskaran. "It was built in 1998, since then there hadn't been a major renovation, and only the car- pets were replaced."
