During this time the Canadian Patient Safety Institute invites all Canadians to become involved in making patient safety a priority. The goal is to encourage Canadians to speak up in the moment if something looks wrong, feels wrong or is wrong. At Halton Healthcare patient safety is our number one priority each and every day and we support continuous quality improvement and patient safety through quality initiatives, audits and programs. We host an annual Patient Safety & Innovation Expo and feature initiatives developed by our staff and physicians for continuous patient safety improvement. Each year staff have an opportunity to highlight their latest safety and innovation projects at all three of our hospitals. www.haltonhealthcare.comYour Hospital OAKVILLE TRAFALGAR MEMORIAL HOSPITALOCTOBER 2019 OHVA Honours 70th Anniversary! Our Patient Safety & Innovation Expos Members of the Oakville Hospital Volunteer Association (OHVA) Board of Directors, including OHVA Board Chair Gary Dobbie, and hospital staff, honoured the 70th anniversary of the OHVA through a tree dedication along "Volunteer Way" leading to OTMH's main entrance. The tree is to honour all of the volunteers and to thank them for the difference they make each and every day in the lives of patients and their families. The OHVA continues to raise and donate significant funds for the hospital. Tree or Bench Dedications Now you too can dedicate a tree or a bench on our property at OTMH in the name of a loved one, your family or a special cause. The funds from this initiative will be used to purchase essential equipment so our doctors, nurses and staff can continue to offer you access to the high quality healthcare services, right here in our community. $2,500 - Dedicate a Tree $5,000 - Dedicate a Bench For more information or to dedicate a tree or bench, please contact Jessica Bray at 905-338-4642 or jbray@haltonhealthcare.com This month we welcomed Judy Linton as our new Senior Vice-President, Clinical Programs and Chief Nursing Executive after an extensive search. She has held progressively more responsible positions in the management and leadership of clinical care, most recently as the VP Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Executive at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener. Previously Judy held strategic, provincial level roles at Cancer Care Ontario and the Ontario Renal Network and numerous clinical operational and consulting roles at The Hospital for Sick Children, PricewaterhouseCoopers and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Toronto. While at Cancer Care Ontario, Judy worked with the 14 regional cancer programs and helped design the quality reporting system. She also led the development of the fourth Ontario Cancer Plan and the first Ontario Renal Plan. Judy's focus is on the provision of high quality care and the best possible patient and family experience. Judy works collaboratively with physicians and hospital staff to design, implement and evaluate innovative safe care for patients. She brings experience from multiple clinical settings and from the system perspective through her leadership role in provincial cancer and renal care. Judy recently provided leadership in the planning and implementation of a new information system, designed to facilitate the provision of safer and more efficient care. "We are delighted to welcome Judy to the Halton Healthcare team. Judy's passion for clinical excellence and dedication to our vision of 'exemplary patient experiences, always' makes her the perfect fit for our organization," said Denise Hardenne, President & CEO, Halton Healthcare.
