With 10,108 votes, Rick Bonnette will be the mayor of Halton Hills for a fifth term. He won by a landslide, pulling in over 80 per cent of the votes. The Acton resident has been sit- ting on council for over 36 years, af- ter being elected for the first time at the age of 26. "It's very humbling to say the least," said the mayor, adding that this was one of the first times he has ran against two other contenders for the position, Robert Gottardi and Jim Waldbusser. "Mr. Gottardi was an unknown," said the mayor, adding it was a par- ticularly competitive election. Incumbents faced steep criti- cism from new candidates calling for term limits how long a represen- tative can sit on council. "We saw the signs, Do Not Re- elect Incumbents," said the mayor.
