23 | The IFP -H alton H ills | T hursday,F ebruary 28,2019 theifp.ca It appears that Wiarton Willy saw his shadow and thus predicted an early spring. By my calendar spring still arrives on March 20, Willy or no Willy. Follow- ing some of the nasty Febru- ary weather, it can't come any too soon! Beef stew, coleslaw, bis- cuit, dessert, plus tea/coffee and entertainments by the Jazz Trio are all being of- fered at the St. Patrick's Day lunch on Thursday, March 14 at noon. Tickets are now on sale at reception. Space will be limited. Wendy Cotton is offering a card making workshop on Tuesday, March 12 from 10 a.m.-noon. Each participant will take home four assorted cards. All materials are pro- vided and are part of the course cost. Sign up at recep- tion. Don't leave it too late. Our ever-popular com- puter workshops are held on Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and begin on March 20 with Intro to Computers. It's time you increase your knowledge of the technical age instead of calling the grandkids every time you come across something you don't understand. Each week is a different topic and that means you can sign up for all workshops or just those you feel you need some help with. Topics are: Intro to Computers; Using the In- ternet; Email; E-readers, Tablets, iPads; and Smart- phones. Sign-up sheets are at reception. Sometimes programs and activities come up that are not in the Hillsview. These along with sign-up sheets can be found at recep- tion desk or on the credenza. The programs offered deal with a variety of topics on ed- ucation, social and health and wellness. Your signature on the sign-up sheets for each pro- gram you plan to attend is necessary. If you let time slip by and there is insignificant interest the program will be withdrawn. If you have a program topic you feel would be of in- terest bring it forward to the office or the board program committee. We are always looking for new ideas. Looking to the future you will want to watch for more information on a couple of upcoming programs - Swin- gin' into Spring Dance" (March 29), Medical Canna- bis Myths and Facts (April 24), and Messages of Love with Tammarishka, a regis- tered medium (evening of July 10). It is wrong, even a source of economic duress for a former spouse to threaten to stop payments, especially for important things like insurance or car payments, even a cell phone. This reflects the imbalance of power there can be between separated spouses. It is bad behavior and can be sanctioned by the Court if the matter is, or ends up in Court. Speaking with Mike Francis, Desjardins Insurance, he advises that he has helped people in this situation before. Mike understands the importance of ensuring continuity of insurance, and can help advise people in that situation in terms of their options for alternate home and auto insurance. Certainly, it is a good idea to also get legal advice to preserve your rights, and ensure nothing unfortunate happens because of a loss of insurance or other important services.
