Coming up this week- end is a family veggie gar- den workshop, set for May 11 at 9 a.m. Participants will plant a veggie container garden, do kids' crafts and have veggie snacks. Teenagers can connect with nature while develop- ing work skills outdoors through the youth mentor- ship program, which runs from May 7 to June 25 on Tuesday and Thursdays af- ter school, and full days during the summer. Volun- teers are vital to the cen- tre's success because they both physically care for the natural space and learn about sustainability. Children can enjoy cre- ative play discovering foot- prints, including their own, at the Footprints in Nature camp, running on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in the summer. There will be themed days with exploration walks, na- ture care, handicrafts and games. The centre's recently- launched Sustainability Connections pilot project is a multi-phase plan that aims to actively maintain, protect and/or enhance en- vironmental health for the sake of all species. The year-long project, which supports the town's sus- tainability strategy, will engage the community in a variety of environmental experiential learning op- portunities.
