(but by appointment only) Ella is sweet and saucy Meet Turmeric, one of the three puppies we now have available at the Upper Credit Humane Society. His mother is a German Shepherd cross, and the father, as far as we can guess, might have been a husky. The other two pups are Tandoori (male) and Poppy (female) and they are about 10 weeks old. Whenever we have puppies available to adopt, we get many applications, which makes it difficult to select the right placement and there are always people who are disappointed. We want to avoid that this time and so we are limiting the number of applications we can take. Viewing will be by appointment only and we are asking that a questionnaire be completed and returned to us first, before an appointment can be made. If you are interested in one of these furry bundles of fun, please call us at 519-833-2287 between 11 am and 5 pm, or send an email to info@uppercredit.com and we will send the questionnaire to you. Turmeric Once upon a time there was a very cute kitten taken home by people to be their own. No one knows why but when she grew up they took her to a barn to live and forage for herself. Ella had no idea how to find food in the barn so she travelled to a nearby house where the kind people fed her, they could not keep her so they returned her to the barn. For many days Ella left the barn to search for food, she became thin and her coat was matted. The neighbouring people asked the farmer if they could have her. He didn't know where she came from so he agreed. Ella was surrendered in May and placed in a foster home - her life in the barn over and her new life beginning. She has regained her beautiful sleek coat, her energy and bright eyes. She is both sweet and saucy. Ella gives clear signals and when she is displeased she enforces her opinion with nips. When she is relaxed and settled she is a sweet cuddler. Her bedtime routine is receiving long strokes down her back, cheek rubs then a kiss on the head and she finds a corner at the bottom of the bed to sleep. She does not nip if feet get too close. Ella is clean with her food area and litter box, she enjoys grooming and will indicate when she's had enough. Trimming her nails involves much cheek scratching to distract her. She is happy to be an only cat and entertains herself by playing with toys and following people. Ella is an entertaining conversationalist - her chirping sounds are musical. Only experienced cat people who appreciate a huge personality should adopt her. She is estimated to be a year old and will calm down once she is settled and feels safe. Absolutely no other felines, dogs or young children should be in her new home. Ella and Dodger will be available for adoption this Sat. at Pet Valu, 375 Mountainview Rd. S. from 2-4. The $160 cash adoption fee includes: vaccinations, parasite treatments, spaying, microchip and a bag of food. For more information visit www.NHKR.ca or call Barb 905-873-8547.
