Acton Sobeys kicked off its low-sensory shopping evenings July 24. Those who stopped by the store that night would've noticed there was no music playing, no announcements, fewer lights on, less staff activity in the aisles and qui- eter registers. According to store manager Chris Ho- wald, the initiative was very well received by local residents, who also took to social media to share their positive commentary. "We had quite a few customers compli- menting us on how much more relaxed of a shopping experience it was," he said. "They enjoyed the low lights, and the lack of music and no pages." The change comes as a company-wide initiative in Ontario to better accommo- date shoppers with special needs and those who prefer sensory-friendly environ- ments. The low-sensory shopping nights will run every Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at So- beys, 372 Queen St., Acton. Carnwath (retired) Regularly I see second marriage couples that have a Will giving each other all assets on death and when the second one dies the assets are split between the children of both parents. Sounds fine except, when one dies the remaining parent is free to change his or her will. If you think this doesn't happen, think again. I have had 2 files in the last two weeks where the children of the deceased parent have come to explain they understand their step mom/dad has changed the Will and they are now wanting to know what to do. They explain their parent had told them their inheritance would come when their step parent died and now they get nothing. Morally the Will should not have been changed, legally the children have a very difficult and often impossible case to get anything. This situation is solved with a simple agreement explaining what happens when the second parent dies. A Will can be amended by the one parent still alive, an agreement cannot be amended unless both parties agree.
