Which makes his involvement in Tag In Sports, a venture meant to help people be active in their communities, a bit of surprise. Despite his team's lack of suc- cess on the field - "We are literally the worst team in the league," he says - Morley looks forward to his weekly game. "I didn't know how my life could be improved by getting out and being active," he said. "Being part of a team, I didn't realize how fun it was." Now Morley and a group of friends are trying to share their love of getting together to play sports with the Tag In Summer Games, which will be held at the Gellert Centre Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. The event will include five ac- tivities for people to participate in: • A home-run derby • KanJam and LadderBall • One-versus-one dodge-ball showdown • Doubles pickleball • Three-versus-three bubble soccer Trophies and prizes will be awarded, including a WWE-style championship belt for the home- run derby. Admission to the event is free, but participation in each of the events is $5, except bubble soc- cer, which is $15. There will also be a beer tent serving Furnace Room Brewery beers and a tent market with local food, shops, artists and communi- ty groups. Morley and his friends are also taking their efforts to encourage people to be active with an app that lets people connect and find activities in their community. Working with Georgetown's Alias Apps, Morley said, they were able to create "a one-stop shop" for players. "It's all the things I wanted as a player: player engagement, where to find pickup games, tourna- ments, clubs, drag-and-drop reg- istration, a payment management system," Morley said. It even has a scoring interface for dodge ball - a first of its kind - which they use to track stats for the local dodge-ball league they started. It tracks successful throws, catches and averages for each player, with stats that can be load- ed on a player's profile page.
