On November 11, Canadians from coast to coast will honour the service and sacrifice of our nation's veterans. Throughout our history, Canadian soldiers have bravely served in wars, conflicts and peace-keeping missions. Current members of the Canadian Armed Forces continue to bring aid and support to areas in conflict while protecting civilians from the dangers of war. On Monday, I encourage you to wear your poppy with pride and observe a moment of silence to remember the service and sacrifice of those who helped make Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire. Keeping you informed by highlighting what makes Halton a great place to live. Gary Carr, Regional Chair Meetings at Halton Region 1151 Bronte Rd., Oakville, L6M 3L1 Visit halton.ca for full schedule. On October 25, the Province announced the decision not to impose changes in size or structure on municipal governments. This is great news for Halton Region and for the 580,000 residents that rely on us to provide programs and services that matter most to the community. Instead of implementing "top down" changes, the Province will allocate $143 million to local municipalities to help lower costs and improve services for residents. We appreciate the Province's recognition that municipalities are well positioned to determine what is best for their communities. Halton Region has always been fiscally responsible, with low taxes and a AAA credit rating, while delivering high quality programs and services. We look forward to collaborating with the Province and local partners to find more efficiencies and support a high quality of life. Thank you to all residents and businesses who participated in the consultation process--your voices were heard. We will continue to advocate to the Province on Halton's priorities.
