Always online first at TheIFP.ca/coldcase LETTER TO THE EDITOR I promised myself al- most a year ago that I would write this letter this year. I remember scrambling to drop off gifts at George- town marketplace on the last day of the toy drive. I had arrived just as the vol- unteer was dismantling the cardboard barriers. I explained that I had some last-minute donations, and he excitedly asked me if I had anything for the teens. Unfortunately, my an- swer was no. He explained that every Christmas it's the adolescents who re- ceive the least. Then he told me he was going to check with the mall office to see if any gift cards were dropped off. He came back with a clear look of disappoint- ment on his face and I knew the answer was again, no. That1s when I promised I would not forget the teen- agers in Georgetown ever again. Merry Christmas. LAURIE BURNEY GEORGETOWN READER WILL REMEMBER NEEDY TEENS THIS CHRISTMAS Halton Violence Prevention Council (HVPC), in partnership with Halton Women's Place and the Region of Halton, kicked off Woman Abuse Prevention Month at the Halton Region building with speakers including a survivor who shared her heartwrenching tale of abuse.
