This applies to any holiday, whether Christmas, the March/Spring Break, Easter, etc. If you have a parenting plan or a separation agreement or there is a court order dealing with this, then you will want to pull it out and review it and make plans in accordance with the governing document. You will need to start a dialogue with the other parent to ensure you are both "on the same page" in terms of what is happening. If you are not in agreement, then you will need the time to sort it out to avoid the stress and inconvenience of last minute issues. If you are traveling with the kids out of the country, then you will likely need a travel consent, which will require disclosing your travel plans, including when you will be away, where you are going and your contact information in case there are any issues. If you do not have the kids' passports and you will need them, you will want to get those from the other parent well in advance. The holidays are a time to focus on the children, and understand that any conflict may well adversely impact them, so that is to be avoided if at all possible. We do a lot of family/divorce law.
