A snowplow operating in Oakville has been taken off the road immediately fol- lowing a number of safety infractions. Halton Regional Police's commercial motor-vehicle safety unit made the stop on Speers Road at about 7 a.m. Wednesday. The inspection on the vehicle revealed a number of infractions, police said, includ- ing being overweight - the truck was carry- ing an industrial salter in the cargo bed - an improper tire, no commercial vehicle operator's registration and carrying an in- secure load. The licence plate wasn't visi- ble, police said. "There was damage and frayed cord in the sidewall of the tire. Any damage to cord puts the tire out of service," police said in a tweet. The truck driver is facing several charg- es. "It's guys like that who put out a bad name for all other plow/construction guys," tweeted Andre Rabouin. "If you can't do it right, don't do it at all."
