JUST THE FACTS Based on fire response modelling, the town's Fire Master Plan identified the need for a new fire station in order to addressfor a new fire station in order to addressf growth in northwest Oakville. • The fire station will be 10,000 square feet in size. • It will be located near the intersection of Bronte Road and Pine Glen Road and serve the Palermo and north Oakville area. • The fire station will be built to accom- modate two full fire crews, two captains, two fire trucks and spare fire apparatus. fire trucks and spare fire apparatus. f • When it opens, the fire station will ini- tially house four firefighters and one truck. • The total budget for this project is $10.4 million. • Construction on the fire station began in the fall of 2019 and is expected to finish in Ju- ly 2020. • The Town awarded this project to Gil- lam Chandos Joint Venture and Lett Archi- tects. • The design of the fire station is intended to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through a variety of measures, including materials selection, renewable energy generation (so- lar photovoltaics), promotion of electric ve- hicle use, low-flow plumbing fixtures, and reduced air infiltration through building en- velope commissioning and testing.
