MPP Effie Triantafilo- poulos recently announced that the provincial govern- ment will be providing $14.5 million for a new ele- mentary school in North Oakville. The new Halton Catholic District School Board facility will be able to hold 671 students at its completion. "Students in our commu- nity deserve to learn in mod- ern, state-of-the-art schools where they can learn the skills they need from their teachers to achieve lifelong success. The Ontario Gov- ernment's investment of $14.5 million for a new Cath- olic elementary school in North Oakville will help meet the needs of students, staff and teachers," said Triantafilopoulos. North Oakville has been steadily growing in popula- tion. Earlier this year, Dr. David R. Williams Public School was opened in the area. Since March of this year, the government has approved the investment of over $1 billion in education capital funding, including 50 new schools. Vincent Iantomasi, chair of the Halton Catho- lic District School Board, thanked the government for the support. "Halton Catholic Dis- trict School Board has ex- perienced unique growth pressures, being situated in the one of the fastest- growing geographical ar- eas of the country, thereby desperately needing addi- tional pupil places in Oak- ville," said Iantomasi.
