Reducing community waste is one of the many ways that we can work together to protect the environment. Halton Region provides curbside collection services (including Blue Box and Green Cart) and drop-off programs at the Halton Waste Management Site (HWMS) that make it easy to reduce your household and community waste. Halton's 2020 Budget ensures value for taxpayers and increases Regional investment in priority areas outlined in the 2019-2022 Strategic Business Plan. It details how we are continuing our strong record of investing in essential Regional programs while preserving Halton's strong long-term financial position. The 2020 Budget includes a 1.7 per cent increase to support investments in Regional programs such as waste management, Paramedic Services, Services for Seniors, community health and social services, and transportation infrastructure. When combined with the Halton Regional Police Service 2.5 per cent tax increase, it results in a 2.0 per cent property tax increase. The 2020 Budget also includes a 3.3 per cent rate increase for water and wastewater services to support a state of good repair for infrastructure.
