Here's what else you need to know about the board's revised plan to reopen its schools: 1. The reopening delay will affect both in-person and virtual school stu- dents. 2. The board will hold el- ementary school visits Thursday, Sept. 10 and Fri- day, Sept. 11 to allow stu- dents the chance to become familiar with new health and safety protocols. More details will be provided next week to families. 3. An orientation for both in-person and virtual learning secondary stu- dents will also be held with a date to be announced once timetables and cohorts have been scheduled. 4. Students with special needs may have the oppor- tunity to participate in transition activities prior to the start of school. Further information will be provid- ed to families by their child's school. 5. Non-medical, cloth masks or face coverings will not be required for kin- dergarten students; howev- er, they will be encouraged. 6. Students are required to bring their own masks each day; however, masks will be available for stu- dents who forget or for fam- ilies who need assistance getting cloth masks. 7. There is an exemption process in place for stu- dents for whom wearing a mask is not advisable. 8. Physical distancing is not possible on school bus- es and masks will also be re- quired on school buses for students in Grade 1-12. 9. Bus routes could be de- layed due to driver shortag- es and new cleaning proto- cols. 10. Students riding the bus will have assigned seat- ing according to their class cohorts.
