This document provides a blueprint to encourage residents and visitors to walk, bike, hike and become more active as they live, work and play within the Town. The ATMP builds upon the Town's Cycling Master Plan, Transportation Master Plan, Trails Strategy and other AT successes, offering direction, recommendations and actions which support planning, design, programming, education, budgeting, construction, maintenance and monitoring of on and off-road active transportation routes and facilities. All recommendations were framed around the five lenses of climate, culture, growth, sustainability and financial which were developed based on significant public and stakeholder input as well as wider Town strategic priorities and objectives. The ATMP was also developed using a four-stage process between December 2018 and December 2020. The outcomes of stage 1 are documented in Technical Memo #1 and focuses on summarizing the extensive review of existing conditions - routes, facilities, programs and policies, as related to active transportation within Halton Hills. The outcomes of stage 2 are documented in Technical Memo #2 and focuses on presenting the proposed vision and objectives for Halton Hills as well as the outcomes of the network development process and design considerations. Stage 3 and 4 were completed and the outcomes of that work as well as a summary of key highlights from Stage 1 and 2 are presented in the Halton Hills Active Transportation Master Plan Report. This includes the proposed education and encouragement strategy, implementation plan, costing and funding and potential tools and strategies to support implementation, maintenance and evaluation. Consultation and engagement with residents and stakeholders was an integral part of the process, with a comprehensive program of activities and opportunities held to provide feedback at key stages over the course of the project. This included interactive online engagement tools, public input sessions, stakeholder workshops and working sessions with staff, presentations organized within local schools, presentations to senior leadership and Council and informational pop-ups at various community events. This breadth of public engagement ensured the final master plan remained orientated to the concerns and aspirations of the local community. On October 26, 2020 a presentation was given to Halton Hills Council identifying the outcomes of the ATMP process and the report for adoption in principles. This notice announces the formal adoption and completion of the ATMP as a result of that Council meeting and decision. All reporting related to the ATMP, including the technical memos and the final master plan report can be found on the project webpage - accessed at haltonhills.ca/ATMP. If you require this information in an alternate format please contact the Town of Halton Hills representative noted above or the project email address to provide you with additional information.
