This industry report shows clearly how the traditional ways of selling homes have become increasingly less and less effective in today's market. The fact of the matter is that fully three quarters of homesellers don't get what they want for their homes and become disillusioned and - worse - financially disadvantaged when they put their homes on the market. As this report uncovers, most homesellers make 7 deadly mistakes that cost them literally thousands of dollars. The good news is that each and every one of these mistakes is entirely preventable. In answer to this issue, industry insiders have prepared a free special report entitled "The 9 Step System to Get Your Home Sold Fast and For Top Dollar". Prepare your home for cold weather conditions With the arrival of fall, leaves are dropping and so are outdoor temperatures. Michael Lopez, operational manger at Reliance Home Comfort, has a checklist to make sure one's home is prepared for the colder months ahead and the particular problems they bring: 1. Trim Trees and Clear Debris. To avoid the risk of injury and potential damage, con- sider trimming back tree branches that hang close to your home. 2. Gutter Cleaner. Repurpose an old plas- tic spatula. It makes a great tool for cleaning de-bris from gutters! It doesn't scratch up the gutter, and you can cut it to fit gutter contours with snips. Grime wipes right off the spatula too, making cleanup a breeze. Clogged gut- ters during storms can cause water to pool and damage your roof or siding. 3. Check Your Detectors. With the fur- nace turned on and windows closed, now is a great time to make sure your smoke and CO detectors are working. Schedule a furnace check-up before temperatures drop to ensure your furnace is working properly and avoid long-wait times during the cold- est months of the year. 4. Keep Window Wells Clean. In addition to caulking one needs to make sure that leaves do not build up in the window well. If leaves accumulate they act like a pool liner and will prevent drainage, causing breakage in windows that could allow water and snow to seep into the house. 5. Prevent Costly Furnace Repairs. Change your furnace filter. Make sure you have a fresh one before you turn your furnace on. 6. Avoid the Freeze. Water molecules expand when they freeze putting tremen- dous pressure on pipes and other water lines often causing them to or burst. It is best to: • Drip Your Faucets: Running the water on low during the coldest days of the year can help prevent water from freezing. • Seal It: Seal leaks located near plumbing lines to prevent cold air and condensation from creeping-in. • Monitor Temperature: Prevent tempera- tures inside the home (especially near pipes and water lines) from dropping below freez- ing. Direct warm air to areas of the house that are colder or located near exterior walls. 7. Conduct an Energy Audit. A trained auditor can assess your home's current energy efficiency and give you a list of rec- ommended improvements you can make, including adding insulation to the attic or upgrading to Energy Star appliances. 8. Rethink a Generator. As many Canadians continue to work from home, increasingly generators are a need-to-have which will you give peace of mind as it will keep your home running no matter what Mother Nature decides to do.
