The Oakville studio has upwards of 1,500 pottery pieces from manufacturers across North America and unique offerings from around Ontario, ready to be painted and kiln fired. Oakville's art studio café also provides an opportunity to get behind the pottery wheel and turn clay into a one-of-a-kind piece. While an assortment of canvas patterns allows customers to express their inner artist with the help of step-by- step instructions. With Christmas just days away, there's still time to create a unique gift and Pottery N Paint Café owner Janice Collette notes that ordering a gift certificate online is a simple process and it will be "electronically delivered" directly to the recipient on the date and time requested. A "pottery-to-go kit" is another option for gift giving or for someone look- ing to create a gift but a visit to the studio isn't possible. The selection of pottery changes with the season. At this time of year there are as many as 500 ornaments and holiday themed items from the ever-popular holiday gnomes, to classic ceramic lighted Christmas trees ranging from 7 to 17 inches tall. Little hand and footprints can also be imprinted on mugs, plates and ornaments. It's all about making lasting memories, explains Janice. What's pro- duced at the studio is both personal and memorable but so is the experience of creating the piece. Groups of six or more can book a table together while individuals or smaller groups can drop in any- time. Janice suggests browsing the online selection before heading to the studio. Face masks are required as is proof of vaccination to paint in the studio. Set aside from 60 to 90 minutes to complete your project. The Studio owner says young children can finish up quickly and recom- mends that adults arrange a separate time for themselves so they aren't rushed and distracted. They might want to spend their time painting a licensed figurine like one of the coveted, discontinued Dis- ney princess characters or the new Star Wars licensed pieces. Guests are often introduced to the studio through birthday parties that can be hosted there along with social, team and corporate events. Janice also offers off-site experiences. Presenting a robust website since opening in 2019 has helped customers continue to be creative at home when pandemic closures made virtual operations and online shopping necessary. Check out the website for event listings like Canvas Paint Nights, and themed events showcasing everything from snow globes, wizards, princesses and adult only nights. No matter the project, guests are guided through the process, whether it's clay hand-building or creating a painted project on pottery or canvas. Janice admits the studio "just wasn't the same when people weren't coming in". It's designed to be a space where people gather to unplug, un-wind and get creative. Pottery N Paint Café is open Tuesday to Sunday at 3513 Wyecroft Rd., Unit H1, Oakville. Visit the website at www.potterynpaintcafe.com or call 905-847-9009. Oakville's Pottery N Paint Café owner Janice Collette welcomes guests to get creative at her art studio. Grahame Paine/Metroland photo Advertorial
