BAILEY, George Rex 1932 - 2022 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Wow, Rex Bailey had an amazing life! George Rex Bailey, died peacefully at his home in Oakville, March 21st, 2022. Rex was born in Toronto June 3rd, 1932. He attended Lawrence Park high school, University of Toronto, and McMaster University. In 1947 Rex met the love of his life Carol née Davis, on Yonge St, North Toronto. Rex was 15 and Carol was 13 and they married on August 4th of 1950 and in 1951 they moved to Oakville. Oakville was such a small town that the QEW had a stop light at Trafalgar Rd. On their 50th wedding anniversary they surprised their children and grandchildren with an Alaskan Cruise, where they renewed their wedding vows. Rex and Carol enjoyed 71 years of marriage. In 1962, Rex and Carol bought their family cottage on Muskadasa Island, on Lake Muskoka. They enjoyed end- less summers of swimming, canoeing, waterskiing, and belonging to the Kettles assoc- iation, where their children and grandchildren took swimming and sailing lessons and participated in the Kettles Regatta where Rex played the Candyman, providing soda and lollipops to generations of happy children. Rex and Carol were also proud Snowbirds, dividing their time between Oakville, Muskoka and Indian Shores, Florida. Throughout his life Rex had many accomplishments. Regar- ding athletics, Rex was a pitcher for the town of Oakville's Hard-ball team. He played defence for Oakville's senior B hockey team. He enjoyed training and racing harness horses at his farm, Carolwood Farms. Rex had a strong dedication to comm- unity service. He was an original founding member and past President of the Rotary Club of Oakville West (RCOW), a member of the Shriners, Rameses, and President of The Victorian order of Nurses (V.O.N.). Rex found profes- sional success as the owner of Abrex Paint and Chemical in Oakville, and Carolwood Neutraceutical Company in Burlington. Rex is predeceased by, his parents Reginald Bailey and Viola née Wilks, his brother's Richard, Paul, Alec, and sister- in-law Donna. His sons Tommy, Michael and Rusty and his daughter-in-law Mary. He is survived by his wife Carol, his children; Peter and his wife AnneMarie, Jeff and his wife Jess, Danny and his wife Lynn, Mandy and her husband Shane as well as his daughter's-in-law Darlene and Judith. 15 grandchildren, lovingly referred to as Papa's Crew: Melissa, Laura, Caitlin, Nicole, Jaden, Sacha, Melanie, Torri, Dynika, Alyssa, Tom, Dana, Kennedy, Devin, Ashlyn, as well as 12 great-grand- children. His siblings Helen, Walter and his wife Mary Elizabeth, Elizabeth and her husband Ken, Joe, Laverne and her husband Henry. He will be greatly missed by family and friends but the happy memories you have will help us remember the love, fun, and joy he gave us all.
