Nominations will be accepted for the Office of the Mayor, town and regional councillors and school board trustees. Regional chair nominations must be filed directly with Halton Region. Town staff said municipal and school board trustee candidates can follow the "Ready, Set, Go" process on the Elections Oakville website which outlines what they need to know before applying, how to prepare nomination pap- ers, and how to schedule an ap- pointment with the Town Clerk to file their nomination. The term of elected office will be from Nov. 15, 2022 to Nov. 14, 2026. Voting day is October 24. "Oakville residents use mu- nicipal, regional and school board services every day," said Vicki Tytaneck, town clerk and returning officer for the 2022 mu- nicipal election. "From the roads, buses and community centres they use, to the businesses they frequent, the schools their kids go to, or the many new developments they help shape, these services are an integral part of their lives. With a few simple steps, both candidates and voters can prepare now to make their voices heard in the October 2022 municipal election." Those who want to be candi- dates must be Canadian citizens 18 years of age or older, and live, own or rent property in the town, or be the spouse of an owner or renter. They must also submit nomi- nation forms in person to the town clerk's office at Town Hall no later than 2 p.m. Aug. 19. Forms are available on the elections website at https://elec- tions.oakville.ca/candidates- set.html. Voter notices will be mailed in early September and voting will take place in person.
