Remembered by his loving children Sandra Stevens (Paul), Eric Schwab (Julia Fuller), and Krista MacLaren (Brooke). Proud grandfather to Noah and Jared Stevens, Jonah and Maya Schwab, Zoe, Ty and Peyton MacLaren. Uncle to the most wonderful and loving nieces and nephews. Remembered by Jane Schwab (Jim) of Southampton, Ontario. John was the youngest son of Clarence (Lieutenant WWI) and Cecilia (Bermuda) and brother to William and Phyllis (d.), Maurice and Patricia (d.) and Mary and Roger Walker (d.). The Schwab family moved from Niagara Falls in the early 40's to the small community of Dorchester. Following high school at Sir Adam Beck in London and a short stint at Canada Trust he joined the R.C.A.F. and became a ground radar technician for 5 years on the Pine Tree Line in Mont Apica, Quebec. John spent the next 11 years in the Marine Navigation business with Sperry Gyroscope and Decca Radar. Eventually he landed a most satisfying position with the International Nickel Company (INCO) at the research facility in Mississauga where he worked for over 20 years until he retired. John loved sports, especially fastball and hockey and played both in his early years. He continued on to coach several hockey teams in Oakville and played Oldtimers hockey until he was 65. John was passionate about books, airplanes, old cars and friendships. Never a stranger did John meet. He always found the most obscure connection and made many friends along the way. John loved every kind of music and danced well into his years at Christopher Terrace Retire- ment home in Burlington and even at Allendale Long term care in Milton, Ontario. He was well known to love a raisin pie and mince tarts at Christmas. He spent many Christmas mornings serving a hot meal to those at the Scott Mission in Toronto. His family would like to thank all of his former neighbours of Mansfield drive in Oakville, his AA friends, INCO friends, Doctors, Nurses and caregivers and all the kind human beings that made life a little sweeter along the way. He wished to acknowledge his indebtedness to the AA fellowship and Parkinson's sufferers. 'It's been a grand journey... what next?' Following his request of no funeral, there will be a small family event and interment in Dorchester, Ontario.
