ALEC PHILLIPS As a descendant of a pioneer family which settled here as far back as 1826, and as a native son who was educated in Oakville public and high schools before enrolling at the Ontario Agri cultural College, and who has engaged in poultry, fruit and fur farming in -this area ever since, I-feel that my roots in Trafalgar township are firmly implanted. In 1941 and 1942, prior to en- listing in the' R.C.A.F. to serve seven years firefighter arm of service, served as your council representative. My decision to again seek that office stems from my. desire to play a part in helping to guide the Trafalgar township successfully through the. vastly important period of , expansion which is at hand, and from. my very sincere belief that = every ratepayer should evince an active interest in the welfare "and development of our thriving. municipality. Should yéu see fit to endorse my candidature at the polls on December 6th, I pledge myself to work toward the setting up of efficient, economical adminis- tration, with organized planning and development as the keynote. Last November, upon being nominated as a candidate for council, I expressed the view that too much emphasis could not be placed upon sound, careful mun- icipal planning. In seeking re- election for 1949, T would reiter- ate the fact that, in view of pre- sent development in the town- ship, council should be continu- ally on the alert to guide this rapidly accelerating expansion program along channels shaped by long range thinking and good, solid common sense. If re- turned to office, I will once again devote my efforts towards this end. R. C. A. CUMBERLAND It is my considered opinion that Trafalgar is now passing through a transition period in which experienced administra- tion plus a modern outlook will be of great value. I am sincerely interested in the task of seek- ing a sensible solution to Tra- falgar problems, and should tax- payers see fit to again accord me the generous support I receiv- ed at the polls last year, I will continue to provide the. care- ful, thoughtful representation I have endeavoured to give them during my current term of of- fice. Positive leadership in solving existing problems has produced satisfactory results. I am con- vinced that close, sympathetic co-operation between Township! Council and Village Commission is essential to successful admin- istration of village and Town- ship affairs. And as a work- ing farmer educated at the College, the operation of - the Chestnut Poultry Farm, I feel that I am qualified to deal with these problems with a sincere, com- mon sense approach.
