Red Cross to Check H.S. Student Molars Initial step in carrying out he dental health programme, sponsored by Oakville and dis- trict unit of the Red Cross, will be a thorough survey of all pu- pils of the Oakville High School commencing Monday, Jan. 8, the first day of the new term. This decision was made at the meeting of a voluntary com- mittee directing the survey, held at Ryrie Farm and i over by Hedleigh Home. Home asked to be relieved the responsibility of directing' the committee further for per- sonal reasons, and J. Grant Ry- rie agreed to accept the post. Object of the survey is to pro- vide every pupil in all Oak- ville's schools and their parents, with a free complete report on dental health. Surveys under- taken in other centres of the province by the Red Cross have shown that prompt action hy parents to have children's teeth repaired in time have heen ex- tremely beneficial to their gen- eral health, While the original plan was to bring in a dentist to conduct the survey, the dentists of Oakville agreed to a recommendation of Dr. Sandy MacGregor, of Tor- onto, that they carry out the plan themselves. The dentists will prepare their own schedule and volunteer their services in rotation. Dr. J. Fred Nattress agreed to arrange for a nurse to assist in the survey. Mr. Home will arrange to obtain the nec- essary dental equipment, while Dr. A. Lloyd Lunau will provide the necessary forms, and office supplies. Publicity will be planned by! a committee comprising Andy McDermott, convener; / Miss Dorothy McBain, and Bill Ed- wards.
