Peg Firms Strike Novel Example In Raising Flood Funds Several of the larger corpora- tions in the Winnipeg area have hit upon a 'novel idea. for_ raising money for the Manitoba Relief Fund. For the past two weeks most workers in large firms have been putting in a great deal of over- time due to the floods. "They have been' moving stock, building dykes, pumping out basements and performing all the other jobs a flood-battered city must do to stay alive. Their overtime pay mounted, and in some cases was actually more than the normal salary of the workers. When pay-day came around the workers got together and decided to turn all their overtime pay 'to the Manitoba Flood Relief Fund, In many cases their own homes were flooded and they realized that the work of the Flood Re- lief Fund is vital to the thous- ands who have been made home- less In Southern Manitoba. Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportun- ity. They seem more afraid of life than death.--James Byrnes Everybody Reads Classifieds Oakville Ready-Mix Phone Oakville 928 CON CX ET XH); A PAPAIN 4 4 > Ranges A delight to any housewife *Modern surface burn- ers. *Warming ment *Utility Drawer *Fully insulated oven *Fully insulated broiler Built to kitchen-plan- ned specifications.
