Graydon On Saturday, November 18th, Oakville District Patrol Leaders and Seconds played hostess to all Patrol Leaders and Seconds from Halton Division with groups com- ing from Burlington, Milton, Nor- val and Port Nelson. A total of forty-two Guides and Fifteen Guiders were present, The program consisting of discussions, ques: tion box, games and campfire was under the direction of Captain J. Yarde of Oakville District, with District Commissioner Mrs. Shir: ley Gibbon of Hamilton as special guest in charge of the question- box. With Mrs. Gibbon was cap- tain Mary Horncastle, also from Hamilton. Division Commi Mrs. H. W. Jaffray welcomed the guests, and Oakville District Commissioner Mrs. W. McDowell took inspection. Highlight of the campfire period was a beautiful ceremonial on the Guide Law by Patrol Leaders and Seconds of Oakville District under the dir- ection of Lieut. Bve Armour. Re- freshments were served at the close of the program to conclude a very interesting and happy oc- casion. The program planned by Captain Hilda McKinley was. in charge of Captain J. Yarde as Captain McKinley was not able to be present because of illness. The program consisted largely of songs, each Company giving its own version of their fayouri- tes. District Commissioner Mrs. McDowell announced the appoint- ment of Captain Yarde as new District Captain to succeed Mrs. McKinley, the post to be held for one year. The new Oakville Dis- trict Guide Choir made its first public appearance with the sing- ing of four numbers. These were well received, and it is hoped a number of new members will join the clioir at its next meeting. The game of message passing was played, at which the Brown- ies outshone the Guides. On be- half of Third Company, Shirley Wilson presented a -gift to Lieut. Ruth Reiffenstein who is leaying the company to become one of the Jeaders in the Sea Ranger Com- pany which is now being formed.
