15 | O akville B eaver | T hursday,M ay 19,2022 insidehalton.com Six individuals have been ar- rested as the result of an opera- tion conducted by the Halton Po- lice Human Trafficking Unit. Between May 2 and May 6 members of the Human Traffick- ing Unit commenced Project Em- bark, which sought to identify and arrest people seeking sexual services from girls under the age of 18. During the investigation, po- lice allege several suspects ar- ranged meeting for sexual servic- es despite being advised that they were communicating with a fe- male who was only 16 years of age. As a result of the project, six in- dividuals were arrested and charged with communicating for the purpose of obtaining for con- sideration the sexual services of a person under the age of 18. The charge has not been prov- en in court. The ages of the suspects range from 18 to 56. Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation, police said they are not releasing the names of the accused at this time. Halton police said they will continue to utilize proactive and preventive measures such as Pro- ject Embark to identify and prose- cute those who engage in the predatory victimization of the most vulnerable.
