Graham Paine/Metroland DRESS REHEARSAL The Halton District School Board has an- nounced that the long over- due official grand opening of Dr. David R. Williams Public School in Oakville will take place on Thurs- day, June 9. The school actually opened in September 2020, but due to pandemic re- strictions, it was unable to host an in-person official opening ceremony. "The staff and students are very excited to show- case this beautiful new school and the wonderful accomplishments we have achieved," said school prin- cipal, Janet Ricciardelli. The ceremony starts at 5 p.m. and activities will in- clude self-guided school tours, a barbecue, musical performances and a rib- bon-cutting ceremony. The address of the school is 3199 Post Rd. The school is named af- ter Canadian astronaut and Oakville resident, Dr. David Williams. Williams has received numerous career honours and awards, including Offi- cer of the Order of Canada (2013), Order of Ontario (2014) and the Award of Ex- cellence from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (2015).
