Following an under- graduate degree from Carleton University, he did his graduate work at the University of Chicago and the London School of Economics where, at the age of 24, he was invited to join the faculty. While in London he met his beloved, late wife Colleen (nee Imbusch). Together, they returned to Canada and George taught at Queen's University for a year before moving the family to the Toronto area where Professor Slasor joined the faculty of Economics at the University of Toronto and taught for more than 40 years. George enjoyed good company and socialized with the many friends he met during his long walks with his beloved dogs Polly and Rafa. He was a lover of all genres of music and a talented violinist. George died peacefully with his loving family at his side. Predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Slasor, he will be dearly missed by his children Christy (Doug Mair), Jeremy (Janet), Peter, Matthew, and Sarah Bray (Mark) as well as his adored grandchildren Jeffrey, Gregory, Sarah, Tessa, and Sophie. The family is profou- ndly thankful to George's faithful caregiver and friend Kees Baggerman, his devoted PSWs from OSCR, Dr. Robert Gabriel and the staff of Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Cremation has taken place through Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home in Oakville. A private family funeral will be held, and a celebration of life will follow at a later date. If you wish, you are welcome to make a memorial donation to the charity of your choice. Online condolences at www.koprivataylor.com VANDERWOUDE, Armeda Kathleen (nee Reade) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Passed away at her home, on Friday, June 3, 2022, at the age of 63. Will be deeply missed by her son Gordon, mother Betty Reade, sister Morna Snair (Brian) and their sons, Reade and Logan. Prede -ceased by her father Gordon Reade. Armeda's energy and enthusiasm for life was evi- dent to all who were fortunate to have known her. She was as quick with a laugh as she was with a tear. Her stories of adventures and misadventures made one wonder how much could have happened to one person. An avid knitter, her creation adorned babies on both sides of the Atlantic. An accomplished pianist, she became the life of the party at countless family gatherings and parties. Her musical talent was a blessing at various churches and Senior homes throughout Lowville, Oakville, and Burlington. There were no 'half measures' with Armeda. Whatever she committed to got all of her. Church, work, politics, community theatre, all were blessed by Armeda's presence. None, more so than her family, both immediate and extended, who she was whole- heartedly devoted to. It would be an understatement to say she'll be missed, but we take comfort in knowing that she is at home with the Lord. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632 -3333), on Friday, June 10th from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Lowville United Church (5800 Guelph Line, Burlington) on Saturday, June 11th at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the church. www.smithsfh.com Let our Expert Designers create a beautiful memorial for your loved ones.
