Peter & Jennifer info@watsoninvestments.com (905) 842 -2100 Halton Regional Police have confirmed that the person pro- nounced dead after being pulled without vital signs from Lake On- tario in Oakville is a 76-year-old Mississauga man. Halton Const. Steve Elms said on Friday (June 3) that police are "still investigating the circum- stances" surrounding the death. Police haven't determined whether this was a death by mis- adventure or whether officers suspect foul play. Halton Police confirmed that the man was pronounced dead at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital after being pulled from Lake Ontario on June 1. Police officers, Halton Region paramedics and Oakville fire- fighters responded at around 2:40 p.m. to Bronte Harbour, with the initial 911 call reporting a body floating in the water. Marine Unit officers went into the water and the man was pulled out before being rushed to Oak- ville Trafalgar Memorial Hospi- tal without vital signs, fire offi- cials said. Emergency responders, including Halton police, pull a person out of Lake Ontario at Bronte Harbour on Wednesday, June 1. @LouieOaktown photo BODY PULLED OUT OF LAKE ONTARIO IDENTIFIED AS MISSISSAUGA MAN NEWS LOUIE ROSELLA lrosella@metroland.com Halton Regional Police have laid a weapons charge against an Oakville teenager after an inci- dent that caused a high school lockdown and sent other schools into hold and secure. Const. Steve Elms confirmed the 16-year-old, who cannot be identified under the Youth Crimi- nal Justice Act, has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose in connection with the chaos that ensued at White Oaks Secondary School around 2:30 p.m. last Tuesday (May 31). Police responded there for multiple reports of a male walk- ing around with a gun, triggering a lockdown at White Oaks and hold and secure orders at nearby schools. Officers found a replica hand- gun and arrested the teen. No injuries were reported, but videos captured some of the tense moments during the ordeal. "Some terrifying moments," said Charles Dingham, a resident in the area. "Lots of cops and some scared parents." The accused teen has been re- leased from custody pending a fu- ture court date to answer to the charge. Two parents that the Oakville Beaver spoke with, who didn't want to be identified, said the sit- uation was unsettling and had them "worried sick," with one saying she was "sick to my stom- ach," particularly with what transpired in Uvalde, Texas, last week, where 21 people were killed when an 18-year-old gunman opened fire with a semi-automat- ic rifle at Robb Elementary School.
