Wetlands are the most biologically diverse kind of ecosystem, supporting both aquatic and terres- trial plant and wildlife species. Wetlands provide a range of benefits, such as flood management, wa- ter quality improvement, groundwater replenish- ment and climate resil- ience. Conservation Halton regulates all watercours- es, valleylands, wetlands, Lake Ontario shoreline, Burlington Bay shoreline, hazardous lands as well as any lands adjacent to these features. Updated mapping sup- ports the delivery of regu- latory and planning pro- grams and helps ensure wetlands are protected.
