Halton's COVID-19 vaccination program: Protecting Halton's most vulnerable Halton's COVID-19 vaccination program is continuing to move forward as part of the Province's three-phase vaccine distribution implementation plan, including recent accelerations to ensure that vulnerable populations are protected as quickly as possible. In Halton and across the province, our ability to vaccinate remains dependent on an ongoing and predictable vaccine supply from the Federal Government. In alignment with Provincial direction, our mobile teams from Halton Region Public Health and Paramedic Services are currently focused on vaccinating residents in long-term care and high-risk retirement homes. I know you join me in thanking our mobile teams for their service and dedication to protect our community. So far, the teams have completed first doses for these groups and we will continue to do whatever it takes to protect our most vulnerable as supplies are available. I am extremely disappointed to share that on January 21, 2021, the Federal Government ignored expert advice on significant harm to the health of residents by approving CN's proposed truck-rail hub in Milton. This is the first time in Canadian history that a Federal Review Panel has determined that a project will have significant adverse effects on human health that cannot be mitigated. It is unconscionable that the Federal Government would approve this project despite findings from an independent and expert panel that the project will cause significant adverse effects on human and environmental health. Thank you to everyone who advocated to the Federal Government about CN's proposal. We will continue to work with the community and be their voice on this issue.
