The outbreak declared Feb. 1 at Amica Georgetown Retirement home had two cases and was initially only affecting the "third and fourth floor," Halton Region said on its website. Now (at press time), the "entire facility" is affected and there are 35 cases, including a staff case, fine non-Halton cases (mean- ing they do not live in the region) and 29 cases in which the roles aren't specified. This outbreak comes as the company running the home is working with public health officials to vaccinate residents and staff. "Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread and reduce the impact of infectious diseases, whether it's seasonal flu or childhood diseases. At Am- ica, we are working with public health to vaccinate residents, team members, essen- tial family visitors and/or essential care partners at every residence as swiftly as possible. Vaccination rollout timing is de- pendent on regional public health vaccine supplies and eligibility requirements," the company said in a statement on its web- site. "Team members are being vaccinated against COVID-19 as quickly as possible, dependent on regional public health vac- cine supplies and eligibility require- ments."
