Dr Halton Hills list PriCE $1,149,900 49 MEaDowlark Dr, GEorGEtown $1,175,000 This month we've found two more very dedicated members of Hillsview Ac- ton. Marj McDonough joined in 1995 while still working at the Acton Pharmacy. On Tuesday mornings she would work at the reception desk, then work at the phar- macy in the afternoons. She retired from the pharmacy at the age of 70. She has been on the fund- ing committee for 20 years and co-ordinated the penny table raffles at the Christ- mas and spring bazaars. She was on the board for many years in various posi- tions, including the social chair. She enjoys having lunch and playing bingo on Friday afternoons, and can't wait until things return to nor- mal. She said she volun- teers because she enjoys "giving back and meeting people." Our second volunteer is Pat English. She told me that when she retired in 2012, she found herself be- coming "a bit of a recluse" with unexpected time on her hands. She felt she would like to meet new people, so she started by working at the re- ception desk. She also helps with the various teas, in- cluding the birthday, fash- ion show, Christmas and spring bazaar teas. She is on the funding committee and was on the phone committee. She was on the board from 2014 to 2020 as the re- ception chair. She enjoys the music programs and movies as well as the bone builder exercise class. We wish to extend our deepest condolences to the families of Lillian Wain- wright, Jean Brown- McBrien and Dobbie Friz- zell. They will be missed at the centre. Our annual general meeting was held on Tues- day, April 6. We thank Joan Isky for her service to the centre as she finished her term on the board. A wel- come to Dora Jeffries as she joins the board; we look for- ward to working with her. Here we are at the cross- roads again as we move into lockdown. The centre's li- brary is still open and the Zoom programs are hap- pening. To stay up to date with what is happening, please keep in touch with the centre. Your patience is required when signing up by phone for the programs. David McLean is the president of the Hillsview Active Living Centre in Acton. He can be reached at david@mcleanweb.ca.
