LOCAL COMPANY RECEIVES CONSERVATION AWARD Diamond Tree Care has received a corporate lead- ership award from Credit Valley Conservation. The Georgetown com- pany was honoured as part of the Friends of Credit Conservation Awards. It received the award for its commitment to nature and the Students for Stormwa- ter project, sourcing re- newable building materi- als to develop rain gardens. at schools. Their work not only en- hanced the school grounds, but also provided space for students to participate in \ds-on environmental learning. Also honoured was John Monczka, who re- ceived an outstanding vol- unteer award. Monczka showed his passion for the environment through the Bring Back the Brookies and his riverbank clean-up projects for the Trout Un- ited Greg Clark chap- ter. The Credit Valley Trail Indigenous Roundtable re- ceived the environmental awareness for their dedica- tion to create Indigenous placemaking features and program opportunities along the Credit Valley Trail. The group is made up of community members and Elders from several Indige- nous nations in Canada, and has been working to honour Indigenous heri- ge and present-day cul- ture through initiatives on the Credit Valley Trail.
