The team — coached by Don Mashinter and Dave Welburn and sponsored by Dave’s Service Centre — battled Triple A players from around the Toronto area and fought to an impressive 5-1 record over the weekend. Georgetown’s rep teams got special recognition Sunday when the Georgetown Eagles hosted a special All-Star Day at the Georgetown Fairgrounds. About 100 boys, ranging in age from eight to 19, participated in the day of fun and competition organized by minor pee wee coach Scott Van de Valk and major pee wee coach Brian Bussell. Rep teams from junior and senior T-Ball up to juvenile gathered at the fairgrounds for the event, which was the first of its type to be held in Georgetown. Organizers planned he special day to give recognition to the many teams which represent umpire during practice drills at Sunday’s R iti locations. The opening pitch for the All-Star Day was thrown by Georgetown’s Dick Willis, who was recognized by the Eagles for his years of service to baseball in the community. An Eagles uniform was presented to the retiring umpire. The boys were divided into four teams, all composed of representatives from junior and senior T-ball, tyke, minor and major pee wee. The clinics focused on fielding, running, throwing and hitting. At the close of the afternoon, trophies were presented to all participating rep team members.
