PAGE2 THE ACTON MONTHLY VOLUME 1, ISSUE 7 Bits & Pieces of Acton News e With an increase in confirmed cases of Avian Flu in wild birds, the Town of Halton Hills is informing residents on how they can protect themselves and their pets from contracting this virus. Some prevention measures include: advoiding contact with wild birds and animals, keep pets leashed and away from birds & bird droppings, and consider temporarily removing or relocating bird feeders and baths. If you do happen to come across a dead bird, you are being asked to report it to the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative by calling 1-866-673-4781 or online at cwhc-rcfs.ca. e New signs promoting tourism in Halton Hills have been installed in Acton. Two signs, with one located at the Parkette (corner of Mill & Main Streets) and the other at Prospect Park, are designed to help showcase the many venues that are within Halton Hills, in an artistic map format while promoting tourism. The booster to local tourism was made possible through $17,500 in Federal Government funding that was announced back in January.
