VOLUME |, ISSUE 7 THE ACTON MONTHLY PAGE7 Consistent quality of vendors key to success of outdoor market, says Galliford A weekly event in Downtown Acton is set to make a return, but under a new name and different location. Formerly nome as the Acton Farmers’ Market, the newly renamed Acton Outdoor Market will be making its debut on Thursday, June Ist at Prospect Park. According to Downtown Acton BIA Coordinator, Matt Galliford, the move from Willow Street North to the park was based on public feedback and is a venue location that will better serve vendors and bring people to the park. “The BIA decided to move the Outdoor Market to Prospect Park this year in response to feedback that we have accumulated over the years. Also, Prospect Park and Fairy Lake are a hidden gem in this town, Wouldn't it be great to have actual grass under your feet instead of asphalt as you purchase your farm fresh foods, craft beverages, ice cream and offerings from local artisans and craftspeople?... the overall public and vendor's opinion is that this is the right thing to do this year.” It’s being touted that this year’s Outdoor Market will include a wide variety of high quality vendors, ranging from traditional farm vendors, specialty produce and micro greens, craft breweries and ciders to a local winery, cured meats, artisans and even an ice cream truck. Galliford strongly feels that the key to the Market’s success will be maintaining a consistent quality of vendors. “It's very important to us to know in advance who will have goods for sale each week. Consistency of quality vendors will be the main key to our success this year... As this is a new experience for our Outdoor Market and the local community, I will be working hard to deliver the best that we can. I want the patrons and vendors to both feel that this is an event worth attending.” Along with vendors, Galliford invites local downtown businesses to also participate in the weekly event. “As part of the Outdoor Market, we are offering the local Downtown Acton jusinesses an opportunity to pro- mote themselves as well. Any Downtown Acton business can contact me at the BIA Office to arrange to be a guest vendor at the Market to promote themselves and their offerings. This is just a very small way to thank our local business owners and include them in the weekly event.” The Acton Outdoor Market will be taking place each Thursday, June 1st to October 5th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 P.M., at Prospect Park, except for the week of the Acton Fall Fair in September.
