Some old names here and several new ones, which is good for the league. Alison Colter, Karen Buckley, - Julie Craig, Kim Smid, June Norton and Darlene Wheeler each won their singles matches. The industrial play was suspend- ed last week following the prior week’s problems. Instead, a meet- ing of team captains and members took place, with a resulting vote of 53-12 deciding in favor of a move for this coming Wednesday, pend- ing representations to and from the Legion president and executive. Team captains will -be advised of the arrangements for play in time for the players to be informed. The league has played in the Legion since the inception way back in the late 1940s, with likes from today’s league players going back to the beginning. It is hoped that the mat- ter will be resolved satisfactorily in good time. The distinct possibility is one of no darts during the Thanksgiving week, with Monday an off night and the industrial situa- tion facing us all. Never mind, there is always the golf course and the Blue Jays. I must admit I did not believe the Jays would achieve as much as they have, particularly the Saturday game in Oakland where the team did well to come back from a 6-1 deficit to win 7-6 in 11 innings. Toronto pitcher Jack Morris had such a terrible outing and manager Cito Gaston left the pitcher in too long for my liking.
