Male roles demanding Continued from page 10 Tennyson, are so strong and demanding (the other three roles in the play are not unimportant but small), that it is crucial to find strong actors for them. Fortunately, Neville Worsnop, the director of the play, has found two actors, Lloyd Lindsay and Eric * Witvoet, that fit the bill. In particu- lar, Lloyd Lindsay, as Dr. Cook, gives an astounding performance. He is a dreadful and lovable tyrant, adored by all, because he knows absolutely what’s good for them. Eric Witvoet as Dr. Tennyson, is Not quite on this level, but when I saw the play on its first night last week, he became with every scene more comfortable with his very dif- ficult part. I understood from his acting the tragic dilemma Dr. Tennyson is caught in. There are no easy choices in life. No matter what we decide, we will become guilty, in one way or another. Pat Ball plays Bea Schmidt, Dr. Cook’s receptionist, Joyce Holland plays his housekeeper, and Gary Brand is Elias Hart, the doctor’s gardener. Neville Worsnop has directed them all well. The stage design is workable. 1 am sure that you will not only have a very good time at this play, but that you will be turned on to. some controversial issues that might have passed you by - up to. w.
