The Rangers scored first in the opening seconds, but Raider Corey Forbes soon tied the score with a shot in the near corner slot, assisted b Ryan Busby. Graham McCulloch then gave the Raiders the edge with a goal, resulting from good hustle with his linemates Brad Snow and Mark Fantegrossi. Oakville kept the pressure on with a tying Beal before the end of the first period. The second period’s only goal was by McCulloch again, assisted by his wingers Fantegrossi and Snow. In the third, Oakville tied it, before Chase Trull put in the win- ner from Brandon Valente and Kevin Binsell. Georgetown’s insur- ance marker came with less than five minutes remaining with McCulloch’s wrap-around short- handed goal, giving him a hat-trick. Ryan LaRose played well in net, impressing the crowd with some great saves. The Raiders’ other opponent in this six-game round-robin series is Burlington. This hard- fought victory was especially sweet as the Georgetown boys came from behind twice to tie and eventually win on a goal by Jason Hayes from Daniel Smith with 19 seconds left in the game. Despite some powerplay oppor- tunities for both teams, strong goaltending by Ryan Carter for Georgetown and the Chinguacousy goalie, the game was scoreless at the end of the first iod. period. Good defensive play by Brian Stuttart, Derek Dovey-Mitchell, Brent McClung and Ryan Bobor helped to maintain a scoreless period. In the second period, a goal by Jason Campbell, assisted by Brent McClung gave Georgetown the lead until a powerplay by Chinguacousy knotted the game at one goal each. Five minutes into the third peri- od, Chinguacousy took their first lead of the game. Georgetown quickly countered three minutes later as Jason Hayes scored his first goal of the game making it 2- 2. Another powerplay goal by Chinguacousy gave them their second lead of the game, but this was short-lived as Ryan Bobor tied the game once more. From this point on, Georgetown had gained the momentum and with seconds left, Jason Hayes scored for a 4-3 Georgetown vic- tory.
